On August 1, one of the older chicks was fitted with a GPS unit as part of Rob Bierregaard's osprey migration monitoring project; she was seen in the nest the afternoon of August 4 in apparent distress, and was discovered the following morning with an injury to her legs; she was taken to an expert, but had to be euthanized August 7.
