The cam is located in Willamette Pass in Deschutes National Forest in central Oregon. Deschutes National Forest Eagle Cam is provided by the Oregon Zoo, AT&T, the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, and the USDA Forest Service's NatureWatch Program. The area was first identified as an occupied territory in 1974, and has been successful in producing fledglings in 21 of the years since then. They raised one chick in 2006, and had an early nest failure in 2007.

Deschutes Nest
Marcia's photo - April 20, 2008
Mom incubates egg (laid April 19) in the snow.

Based on past experience, look for eggs in mid-April, chicks in late May, and fledging in mid to late August.

Summary of 2008 Season:
  • egg laid: April 19, 6:35 am (unusual in that only one egg was apparently laid)
  • egg lost: parents driven off nest May 11 by neighboring eagles; egg abandoned
