Summary of 2007-2008 Season:
|
soph9's photo - January 7, 2008 First feeding was observed January 8 - so they might have been watching the eaglet break out of its shell the day before. |

EmtyBelfry's photo - March 23, 2008 Did "LONER" fly? |
JudyB's photos - March 24, 2008 Still haven't decided if Loner has fledged - here he is flying out to his branch, and showing how high he can go. |
Loner was not seen at all on March 25 (we started watching around 9 am, and someone was watching fairly constantly until it was too dark to see). Both parents spent time in the nest, separately and together, and brought food to the nest. We are assuming Loner fledged March 25, at 11 weeks old. |
EmtyBelfry's photo - March 28, 2008 |
JudyB: I find it interesting how much time the parents spend in the area, even though he's now a large eaglet and doesn't need the constant protection a younger and smaller chick might. It makes me wonder if some of the eaglets are as "left alone all day" as it looks - or if we just can't see the branch where the faithful parent stands guard. |

JudyB's photo - April 29, 2008 (sixteen weeks old) |
Loner is 17 weeks old (and fledged 6 weeks ago - or at least he was out of the nest all day, and fledging is a likely reason for that). He's still returning regularly and spending time with a parent at the nest. Here they seemed to be having a bit of a tug-of-war over something in the first picture, and then they spent quite a while just sitting together up on a branch. |
JudyB's photo - May 13, 2008 (eighteen weeks old) |
I was watching Cam II May 20 and 21. Both parents were in the nest much of the day on the 21st, just hanging out. But I didn't see Loner. He was 19 weeks old May 20th, and I think he's also off being an eagle! Fare well. |
